{"id":3839,"date":"2025-03-19T15:21:44","date_gmt":"2025-03-19T22:21:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/queersatanic.com\/?p=3839"},"modified":"2025-03-19T15:21:44","modified_gmt":"2025-03-19T22:21:44","slug":"oklahoma-man-accused-of-pipe-bombing-satanic-temple-hq-to-plead-guilty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qs.gehenna.ynh.fr\/?p=3839","title":{"rendered":"Man to plead guilty to pipe-bombing Satanic Temple HQ"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">According to past filings, the Oklahoman believed he was sent by &#8220;Elohim&#8221; to &#8220;fight crybaby Satan&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sean Patrick Palmer of Perkins, Okla., is facing up two decades in federal prison after agreeing with prosecutors to plead guilty to an April 2024 hate-crime attack of The Satanic Temple&#8217;s Salem HQ with an improvised explosive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Federal investigators claimed that Palmer spray-painted a &#8220;warning&#8221; on TST&#8217;s headquarters at 64 Bridge Street in September 2023, then returned seven months later to attack it, leaving another note that read, among other things, &#8220;ELOHIM SEND ME TO FIGHT CRYBABY SATAN, BUT WANT ME TO MAKE HARD EFFORT SO NO ONE DIES. I OBEY.&#8221; The homemade bomb &#8220;partially detonated causing minor fire and related damage to TST\u2019s exterior,&#8221; according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courtlistener.com\/docket\/68446029\/1\/1\/united-states-v-palmer-do-not-docket-in-this-case-merged-into\/\">the FBI investigator&#8217;s description<\/a>, and thankfully, no one was killed or injured despite the gunpowder the pipe had been filled with and metal nails that had been taped around it.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/queersatanic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/image-20.png\" alt=\"Photograph of pipebomb with orange evidence cone. &quot;The IED appears to have been constructed from a section of plastic pipe covered with metal nails, which were attached to the pipe with tape. Palmer (1:24-cr-10132), Palmer is set to be sentenced to 5 to 20 years in prison for the arson attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/queersatanic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Palmer-plea-deal.jpg\" alt=\"1. Change of Plea\nAt the earliest practicable date, Defendant will plead guilty to Count One of the Indictment: damaging and attempting to damage a building by means of fire and an explosive in violation of 18 U.S.C. \u00a7 844). Defendant admits that Defendant committed this crime and that he is, in fact, guilty of this offense.\n\n2. \u2018Penalties\n\nDefendant faces the following mandatory minimum and maximum penalties: incarceration for not more than 20 years and not less than 5 years; supervised release for 3 years; a fine of $250,000; a mandatory special assessment of $100; and restitution.\" class=\"wp-image-3840\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/guidelines.ussc.gov\/apex\/r\/ussc_apex\/guidelinesapp\/guidelines?app_gl_id=%C2%A72K1.4\">Federal sentencing guidelines<\/a> involve a calculation based on how severe the offense is determined to be, which restricts judicial discretion. The structure is described as &#8220;other than a dwelling and a place of public use&#8221;. Now, in the past, people <em>have<\/em> lived at and stayed at The Satanic Temple&#8217;s Salem headquarters in the past, both managers like Ash Astaroth who worked there and the Satanic Estate&#8217;s renting out a space inside as a hotel room, so Palmer could have been looking at even more sever penalties. Meanwhile, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/definitions\/uscode.php?width=840&amp;height=800&amp;iframe=true&amp;def_id=18-USC-322901536-778638564&amp;term_occur=999&amp;term_src=title:18:part:I:chapter:113B:section:2332f\">place of public use<\/a>&#8221; also seems a bit more narrow than you might intuitively think if the idea is that having to pay for entry distinguishes it from a public place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the other important increase is the enhancer for selecting a victim based on &#8220;the actual or perceived religion of any person&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/queersatanic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Palmer-plea-deal-guidelines.png\" alt=\"4. Sentencing Guidelines\n\nThe parties agree, based on the following calculations, that Defendant\u2019s total \u201coffense\nlevel\u201d under the Guidelines is 20:\n\na) Defendant\u2019s base offense level is 20, because the offense endangered a structure\nother than a dwelling and a place of public use (U.S.S.G. \u00a7 2K1.4(a)(2)(C));\n\nb) Defendant\u2019s offense level is increased by 3, because Defendant intentionally\nselected any victim or any property as the object of the offense of conviction\nbecause of the actual or perceived religion of any person (U.S.S.G. \u00a7 3A1.1(a));\nand\n\nc) Defendant\u2019s offense level is decreased by 3, because Defendant has accepted\nresponsibility for Defendant\u2019s crime (U.S.S.G. \u00a7 3E1.1).\" class=\"wp-image-3841\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">District Court Judge Indira Talwani still must accept the plea deal for it to be final. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That building at 64 Bridge Street in Salem is The Satanic Temple&#8217;s most public-facing permanent facility and the registered physical and\/or mail address to the self-described religion&#8217;s numerous for-profit and nonprofit corporations.
