You also are those moments, of course. “That’s not really me,” “that’s not who I am,” or “deep down, I’m actually\u2026” this nonsense. There is no, “But I’ve changed.” There is no “born again.” You are what you do repeatedly, and you are everything you’ve ever done; you always will be. All of the harm you’ve done to people along the way before you knew better is you<\/em>, and it will never stop being you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But: you’re also all of the kind things you’ve ever done. You’re also every act of charity, nurturing; every gratuitous loving choice you’ve ever made, every time you used your power to help rather than hurt someone with less power. You are every harm you have repaired and every wonderful thing you’re still yet to do (if you do them).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are not awful or worthless, tho you probably have done some awful, worthless things in your life. You’re not an abomination, tho perhaps you have some self-memories that are abominable. You deserve no one’s forgiveness for any way you’ve hurt them, but “deserve’s got nothing to do with it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are what you do repeatedly, and you become what you practice. So be practicing at everything you want to do and be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are more than your worst moments, and there are more moments for you yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
