Newsweek Magazine LLC<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>TST&#8217;s own evidence reveals how poor its reaction to sexual abuse claims are<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Satanic Temple has been suing Newsweek since 2022 over a critical article the magazine published in October 2021 focusing on TST&#8217;s SLAPP action against the four of us that also quoted a few other former members who all independently echoed some of the same complaints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We talked about <a href=\"https:\/\/queersatanic.com\/the-new-heretics-stream-5-24-24\/#4-newsweek\">dueling summary judgment motions<\/a> a few weeks back where the last issue to be resolved is whether The Satanic Temple is a public figure (it definitionally is) and whether &#8220;accounts of sexual abuse being covered up that were more than anecdotal&#8221; was defamatory to quote someone about (again, pretty definitionally, no, that&#8217;s just part of reporting, especially given all that has been revealed in discovery).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-wp-embed is-provider-queer-satanic wp-block-embed-queer-satanic\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"ql17iOXcZ7\"><a href=\"https:\/\/queersatanic.com\/the-new-heretics-stream-5-24-24\/\">The New Heretics Stream (5\/24\/24)<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"&#8220;The New Heretics Stream (5\/24\/24)&#8221; &#8212; Queer Satanic\" src=\"https:\/\/queersatanic.com\/the-new-heretics-stream-5-24-24\/embed\/#?secret=nxEM6iDkNb#?secret=ql17iOXcZ7\" data-secret=\"ql17iOXcZ7\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mainly, we focused on how TST revealed that it had spent more than $43,000 on &#8220;crisis management&#8221; firms, including at least $25,000 on the same guy who <a href=\"https:\/\/queersatanic.com\/how-the-satanic-temple-is-just-like-the-catholic-church\">helped the Catholic Church deal with its child sexual abuse scandal<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, this week The Satanic Temple released even more damning evidence about itself, seemingly without any ability to recognize what it was doing. We&#8217;ve long said that when TST sycophants tell you to &#8220;report things the right way&#8221; or &#8220;go through the proper channels&#8221;, it&#8217;s because TST controls those channels and can stonewall or ignore you; we didn&#8217;t think TST would go out and just put it into the federal court record on their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As background, someone tried to notify The Satanic Temple about inappropriate and unwanted sexual behavior in their local chapter in San Jose, Calif., back in 2017.
